Last December 2, 2017, Nike brought together all aspects of the basketball culture in one playground to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Air Force 1. The iconic shoe that has deep roots tied in to the game of basketball and has attained a legend status in the street culture throughout the years. Since 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 has inspired communities, artists, musicians and athletes the world over with thousands of iterations, on and off the court.

Nike Battle Force set the stage for a series of tournaments open to young Filipinos to compete in various battles across basketball, dance, music and style. Nike Battle Force Manila is a showcase of basketball’s ever-evolving, far-reaching influence. The festivities center around three central elements. On the sidelines of the game itself has always been music, with hip-hop identifying its roots, the current lifestyle around the game and future with hoops.

Brought together by the impact the Air Force 1 has made in street culture, over hundreds of people flocked to Titan Love Court. The Celebration Night had everything a basketball junky could ever ask for in one place. From fast-paced hoops action, high-flying slam dunk highlights, and long-range buckets to music from the best local artists – Nike Battle Force had it all.

From what started with 128 teams in the Basketball Battles, Team G-Force composed of Marky Mercado, Fran Asuncion, Jay Sacluti, Tim Cu, Nino Atilano and Nikko Montelibano emerged as the champions dominating almost every team they had to face throughout the tournament. While David Carlos and Bobby G. took home the Dunk Contest and 3-Point Shootout titles, respectively.
